A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

Trattoria Le Mossacce was founded on 9 April 1925. Initially, the restaurant was just a wine bar, but soon after, founder Ottavio Turchi (born 1887) and his wife Olga decided to turn it into a trattoria. Even during the war Le Mossacce never ceased serving traditional Tuscan cuisine, preparing each dish with passion and wisdom. In 1945, the Trattoria was taken over by waiter Gastone Mugnai and then, in 1965, Marcello Fantoni, waiter and factotum, and chef Antonio Meacci took over.

The exquisite dishes vary daily, as in the past, depending on the season, while the quick and essential hand-written menu indicates dishes of traditional and ancient Florentine cuisine, the result of recipes handed down for more than ninety years. For these reasons, our trattoria has always had a great reputation and many show business and film personalities have tasted its magnificent cuisine: Ugo Tognazzi, Jonny Dorelli, Ave Ninchi, Vittorio and Paola Gassman, Michele Placido, Giorgio Albertazzi, Leonardo Pieraccioni and many others.
